Feeling discomfort is a natural response when interpersonal relationships or life circumstances knock us down.
I work with individuals of all ages who want to find solutions to both chronic and situational stress as well as emotional pain turned inward.
I offer services via TeleHealth and in person in our downtown Salem, Oregon location.
Stress and anxiety are adaptive human experiences that most of us have some familiarity with. They help warn and protect us from real and perceived dangers. But, while useful, those feelings can become problematic if they become overly active and/or chronic, leading to:
Frequent wakeful nights, upset stomach, headaches, muscle tension
Brain fog, inattention, forgetfulness
A short fuse
Panic attacks
Social withdrawal
Inability to function at school, work, or home
I may be able to help when situations -- planned or unplanned -- trigger unpleasant and excessive feelings of frustration, restlessness, worry, irritability, or unease in response to:
Trauma
Life transitions (new diagnosis, moving out, new family member, grief/loss)
Discomfort in social situations
Loneliness
Work/life imbalance
Retirement
Not having enough time in the day
Parenting
Being a kid
Caregiving
I love supporting people in developing -- or rediscovering -- a healthy belief in their own competence and capability. I support individuals in exploring, understanding, and overcoming past and present barriers to having good self-esteem.
Potential related topics of conversation might include:
Childhood experiences
Better functioning at work or in school
Difficult relationships
Caregiving
Sudden changes in life
Financial stress
Other unknown factors
MY OVERALL APPROACH TO THERAPY TENDS TO BE VERY PERSON-CENTERED.
I strive to individually tailor services to each person's unique needs and preferences. My style is relaxed and grounded in the present, taking the totality of a person's strengths and life circumstances into account.
My aim is to create a supportive environment in which you can feel well heard and understood, unconditionally accepted and supported, and at ease in discussing whatever issues and/or goals you bring to the table.
This type of holistic approach lends itself well to the work of:
Acquiring greater insight
Claiming responsibility for your feelings and actions
Bringing words and actions into greater harmony with your values
Recognizing and acknowledging your strengths and capabilities
Developing confidence in your ability to navigate whatever arises
Cultivating practices that support maximum health and wellness
Connecting and surrounding yourself with people who support and encourage you
Finding space for forgiveness
Living less reactively
Experiencing greater contentment
Practicing saying 'yes' to life on life's terms
